Wire EDM
Wire EDM machines are capable of cutting tight tolerance straight through or tapered shapes in a wide variety of metals, including hardened tool steel. We have five wire machines including one that is among the largest in the state of Wisconsin. All of our machines are capable of the highest taper cutting capacity in the industry.
Some of the products in which Wire EDM is typically used:
- extrusion dies
- plastic injection molds
- stamping dies
- diecast
- gaging
- form tools
- electrodes (copper and graphite)
- prototyping
- fixtures
- components
- research & development
- exotic materials
- food grade
Conventional EDM
Alaark offers Conventional EDM services which are ideal for small to large work pieces that are difficult to machine, have small or odd-shaped angles, and/or have intricate cavities and contours. Also unique to the Conventional EDM is the capability to modify any hardened material.
We have a large machining area and a 24-position electrode changer that allows for 24/7 lights out operation. Electrodes (2-D or 3-D) are manufactured in house to meet customer specifications. Our Conventional EDM, also known as a Ram or Sinker, has travel specifications of X 23.65” x Y 15.75” x Z 17.69”.
Some of the products in which Conventional EDM is typically used:
- extrusion dies
- plastic injection molds
- progressive stamping
- diecast
- form tools
- prototyping
- fixtures
- nesting
- components
- research & development
- exotic materials
